MONEY MAKER deal at Martin's

This deal is too good to NOT post. Thanks to Scott, who discovered it first!

Martin's is having a deal on several products this week, where you buy 5 and get $5 back at the register. Here is a list of those products:

Buy any 5 of the selected items listed below and instantly get $5 off your shopping purchase
  • Kellogg's Cereal or Family Size Pop Tarts (Frosted Flakes, Apple Jacks or Fruit Loops, Corn Pops, Pop Tarts 20.3-22 oz Box) 2/$5
  • Kellogg's Fruit Snacks 2/$5
  • Kellogg's Rice Krispies Treats 2/$4
  • Kellogg's Nutri Grain Bars 2/$5
  • Keebler Sandwich Crackers 2/$4
  • Keebler Club Crackers 2/$5
  • Cheez-It Crackers (Excludes Twisterz) $2.99
  • Keebler Caddy Packs $4.79
  • Eggo Waffles (excludes Nutri-grain and Special K Waffles) $1.99
IN ADDITION, if you buy 10 of these items in one transaction, you will ALSO receive a $10 Catalina coupon (the little coupon thingys that print out at check-out) good on your next order. So, if you have NO COUPONS, you will get the $1.99 items for FREE if you do this deal. However, if you have coupons also, this will be a MONEY MAKER for you! Here is a database that lists where to find or print all the coupons I used....just search for the items you're looking for.

Here's what my shopping trip looked like today:

Transaction #1:
10 boxes of Eggos @$1.99/each
-5 $1/2 coupons
- $10 Martin's discount
Total = $5.xx
PLUS I earned the $10 catalina (which doesn't print until after you sign the CC slip! I got nervous there for a second....)

Transaction #2:
10 boxes of Keebler crackers @ 1.99 each
1 gal. 2% milk
-5 $1/2 coupons
-$10 Martin's discount
Total: $7.xx
PLUS another $10 catalina
I SHOULD have thought this through a little more and bought something else to equal over $10 for that transaction so I could use Cat #1 on Transaction #2, but oh-well....

Transaction #3
4 boxes of Nutri Grain bars @ $2.50
2 boxes of Cinnabon bars @ $2.50
4 boxes of Pop Tarts @ $2.50
-2 $1/2 Nutri Grain Printables
-1 $1/2 Cinnabon printable
-2 $1/2 Pop Tart printable
-$10 Martin's discount
- $10 cat from Transaction #1
Total $2.xx

So, all told, I spent $15 on EVERYTHING.. .. And came home with $20 to spend.

Don't you just love making money to shop??? :O)

Have fun!!

Target deals 8/1

Sorry I've been slow on the deals the last week or two~ I keep thinking I won't be shopping since I'll be having a baby, but so far~ no go. I'm 5 days late today......

So I started perusing the Target deals for this week, and this one stood out:

Juicy Juice 8 pk on Price Cut for $1.99
-$1.00/2 coupon from yesterday's RP
-$1/1 Target printable
= .50 cents/pack when you buy 2 and use 2 Target Coupons (so, don't go to Forest Hill to do this deal!)

If I see any other stand-out deals, I'll add them here!

Fresh to Frozen, Wed. 7/28

Here's a quick update of the top dairy and produce deals at Fresh to Frozen today:

1. Seedless watermelons $1.00 (these are GOOD! We had one for dinner)
2. Blueberries .65 cents/ pint
3. Strawberries, 3 pounds for $2.00
4. Hanover tomatoes, .50 cents/ lb
5. Sorrento mozzarella cheese $2.00 for a 1lb block
6. loose apples, .88 cents/lb
7. Honeydew melons $1.00

That's all that sticks out in my brain~ either the other stuff there wasn't that great of a deal, or I just missed it.

Over and out!

There are good shopping trips, and then...

I had a Kroger high yesterday morning. It was a great trip: I got:

2 Welch's Grape Juice 100%
1 Gatorade 32 oz
1 Wishbone Dressing
5 Kraft shredded cheeses
1 Dixie Ultra plates
2 Philadelphia Cream Cheese Minis
4 Dan-o-nino yogurts
2 bags of Tyson frozen chicken
8 Quaker Rice cakes
1 L'Oreal hair detangler
2 Motrin PM's

And I paid $8.xx out of pocket, and got $7 in Catalinas back to use on my next order.

Better yet, the check-out clerk was nice, all my coupons scanned without beeping, there was no line, AND I got to go without kiddos! The trip couldn't have been better!

Let's contrast that to tonight when I went to the FOREST HILL TARGET.

I had coupons for about 10 different things. (Merona shirts for D, C9 apparel for me, Red Baron Pizza-by-the-slice, Granola bars, Nexcare tattoo bandaids, etc.). The only things I came to the register with was 8 Sobe (I DID find 4 of my favorite flavor~ Orange Tangerine!), and 2 Stride Gum. I had b1g1 Target AND Manufacturers coupons for both items, which would have made everything free.

I knew I was in trouble when after successfully scanning all my coupons the total was .54 cents (tax), and the check-out girl said, "Hold on, I have to go check these with the manager" and she walked off with all my coupons. Oh boy. This is the SAME store where the manager stole my coupons last week (see below post). I had done nothing wrong, but when cashiers start acting as if I have, it always makes me nervous. She came back with the grumpy manager who said I could only use ONE Target coupon per transaction, AND they weren't going to give me free products, so I couldn't use both the Target and Manufacturers coupons at one time on the Gum (That is NOT correct, I've done it before numerous times at other Targets, but whatever.). I was determined to remain pleasant, I put 4 Sobe's back, let her run my 2 transactions separately, gathered up all the coupons I wouldn't be using, and I went on my way. Feeling like a criminal.

I did ask her why some Targets will allow this and some (they) won't, and her reply was that "We strictly enforce Target coupon rules here.". Mental note and lesson learned: don't go back to the Forest Hill Target with coupons.

The bigger lesson, though, is this: How should we react when the cashier is blatantly wrong, or we have been "wronged" with our deserved savings, or someone is unpleasant behind us in line, or ...or...or.....I'm sure you guys could come up with other similar scenarios. I came away reminded that in ALL things the savings doesn't matter~ but my witness for the Lord does. So, I ate $2.34 cents at Target last night, but I hope my attitude toward the grumpy manager and suspicious cashier was worth much more.

But today I'm going back to Kroger.

Free Kraft Shredded Cheese at Kroger!!

I love free. I love cheese. I love Kraft cheese (NOT the 2% though...Yuck). This is a deal made in heaven!

Here's how to get your Kraft cheese for FREE through Saturday at Kroger:

1. Buy 5 Kraft 8oz shredded cheeses for .99 cents each. I've heard that some of the weird ones won't work~ like the Fat Free, etc. You gotta get the real, full-fat stuff, or the nasty 2% if that's your thing. You *could* also get Philadelphia cream cheese bricks~ those are also included in the deal.

2. Buy 5 other items that are part of this week's "mega" sale. My current (cheap) favorites are the Pasta-Roni for 49 cents, or the 32 oz Gatorades for 49 cents. There are lists and lists available to peruse if you're interested in the forums at afullcup.com.

At check-out, your total will be approx. $7.50 (if you buy 5 of the .49 cent items also), and you will get a Catalina coupon right there on the spot for $5 off your next order. That basically makes the cheese FREE!!

I tried doing two transactions today and rolling the Cat I got from the first transaction onto the second and it worked like a charm. My second transaction total for 5 cheeses and 5 gatorades was approx. $2.50.

.50 cent Tombstone Pizza @ Kroger

There's a $2/1 coupon on Facebook right now for Tombstone Pizza. Unfortunately you have to "post" a brief comment about what you'll be doing this summer to your, and your friends, pages~ but I just went and deleted it immediately so hopefully it won't be too pesky. :O)

Anyway, Tombstones are part of the Mega Deal at Kroger this week~ which means if you combine the coupon with the purchase of 10 items from the Mega Deal list, you can get the pizzas for .49 cents each!

Savings

I don't wanna tell the world on FB because some of "them" just wouldn't understand...but I knew you guys would. We're trying to budget no more than $150 a week for groceries/diapers/toiletries & stuff, and so far for this week I've only spent $70. Included in that is today's shopping total of $28. When I added up the ORIGINAL value of what I bought today, it came to over $235! I'm definitely on a coupon-high tonight. I didn't take a picture of my "pile"~ 'cause I wasn't sure if anybody would care, but I will if you're interested. YAY COUPONS!! :O)

Target Special K & Fiber One deal

There is a Target deal going on right now that will basically give you cereal, granola bars, AND a Toy Story 3 toy~ and it is a money maker. I'm not even going to try to explain it~ they do a much better job here. I'll give it a try today and let you know how it goes!

UPDATE: Worked like a charm! I did the "5 cereals and 5 granola bars" scenario mentioned in the post above, and everything worked just like the post said it would. The Midlothian Target was well stocked with all the Special K and Fiber One Antioxidants, so have fun! :O)

Staples Coupon + 1 cent specials next week!

I can hardly believe that it is "Back To School" shopping time again, but Staples is starting their 1 cent and $1 specials next week.

Under the 1 cent items I see:
pencils
folders
1 ream of paper (after Easy Rebate)

Under the $1 items I see:
nice Bic pens
staplers
pencil boxes
highlighters
scissors
glue sticks
post-it notes
colored pencils
tape
8 1/2 x 11 dry erase boards (oooo....these look fun!)
envelopes
photo paper

There are also several coupons.....two that look interesting are a 20% off binding coupon (anybody working on their homschool planners yet?) and a $5/$30 coupon, which can be printed.

We did this last month and they will let you order different FLAVORS of the same item on your second visit, but you DO need to get the same menu item. See you there!

"1" shopping at Sam's

I went "1" shopping at Sam's today.

If you have no idea what I'm talking about, it is when you peruse the aisles for any prices ending in a "1"~ that means that item has been discontinued and is on clearance. You have to know your prices, though~ sometimes the deal isn't that great.

But I found 2 things at the Midlothian Sam's I thought were worth a post. The first was a 6 pound, 9 ounce of De Cecco pasta. It had 3 bags of spiral pasta, and 3 bags of the small tube kind (I dunno what that is called!), and it was on clearance for $2.51! That's less than .50 cents a pound.

Second, I found boxes of 24 Cinnabon cinnamon bars for $4.51 a box. Each box had 3 smaller boxes of 8 each, and that comes out to $1.50 a box, or .19 cents a bar. Not stellar, but still a good deal. My kids LOVE LOVE LOVE these things!

Third, they had boxes of Chocolate Chunk Chex Mix bars on clearance~ I want to say they were $6.xx for a pack of 24. Not as great of a deal as the Cinnabon, but still good. I didn't buy those...something about the chocolate CHUNK of them made me think that they defeated the purpose of a "granola bar' type snack, which in my family means that there is SOME kind of health benefit to it. Even as I'm typing this I realize that the Cinnabon bars don't follow this "granola bar" definition at all either, so just ignore me. I didn't buy the chocolate ones, that's all.

Anyway, happy "1" shopping, everyone!

Gotta Get It! Martin's 6/27-7/3

Here's my "Gotta Get It!" list for Martins for this week. This is not an exhaustive list of all items on sale and the coupon match-ups~ there are other people that do this much better than I could. It is just a list of things that you SHOULD get because they are rock-bottom prices....or FREE!....with coupons.

Remember: Martin's only doubles one coupon per item per day. I found out the hard way this weekend...I thought I was being smart and sneaky by going to 2 different Martins in one day to get twice the doubling power, but DRAT those pesky computers! They only let you double one per like item, per MARTIN'S CARD. Double drat!

Also, any coupon that is for .55 cents or more will double to $1.00. So, a .75 cent coupon will really be $1.00. Again, only one per like item, per MARTIN'S CARD, per day.

1. French's brown mustard $1.49 - .50/1 (doubles) from 5/9 SS FINAL PRICE (FP): .49 cents each
2. Fresh Corn~ 12/$1.99. Or, 6/.99 cents. Or, 1 for 16.5 cents. :O) You don't have to buy 12.
3. Hellmann's Mayo: $2.00 - .75/1 (doubles to $1.00) printable = FP $1.00
4. Eggs~ 1 dozen Giant Large .50 cents!!
5. Suddenly Salad $1.00 - .50/2 (doubles) from 5/23, 6/6, or 6/27 SS = FP .50 cents each
6. Sweet Baby Rays barbeque sauce $1.00- $1/2 from 5/23 SS = FP .50 cents each
7. Hefty Cups/Plates/bowls $1.66 - $1/2 from 5/16 RP = $1.16 each
8. Dole canned Mandarin Oranges $1.00 = .50/2 (doubles) from 6/20 SS = FP .50 each
9. Skinny Water $1.00 - .50/1 (doubles) printable = FP FREE!
10. Clif Mojo Bars $1.00 - .50/1 (doubles) from Mambo Sprouts booklet (available at Ellwood Thompson) = FP FREE!
11. Dixie Plates $2.00 - .50 1 (doubles) from 5/23 SS = FP $1.00.

BONUS:
If you happen to have the little coupon bookets that have been available in store (NOT the ones mailed out~ these are available at the CS desk if you ask) then the following deals are good for you:

1. Nature's Pride pasta $1.25 - $1/1 NP item = FP .25 cents
2. Smart Living BBQ Tools B1G1 - $2/1 Smart Living Product = FP (varies)
3. The Giant eggs listed above for .50 cents become FREE plus .50 cents overage if you use the $1/1 Giant coupon. The registers WILL give you overage on these booklet coupons.

Sobe Instant Win game

I've been playing the Sobe Instant Win game daily, and I'm pretty impressed with how many things I've won! I think I have gotten 4 b1g1 coupons, 3 "free" coupons (to be mailed to me), and today I won a pair of SoBe flip-flops! You can play once per day, and the game runs through September. Let me know what YOU win!

Target printables

Slick Deals has a dangerous page. It is a page where people have uploaded full pages of Target printables (scroll about half way down and you'll see where it says in red "Multiple Page Coupons"). So, after you have printed your 2 per computer from the Target website, you can go print the same coupons @ 5 or so per page. I used a page of SoBe coupons tonight (5) to buy 10 Sobe's for $1/each, and then I got a $5 gift card. I still felt funny using them, but my (more) honest friend Marie went to customer service before she used them and asked if they were legit, and the CS lady said "yes". So, I'm going with that. :O)
